Kylie's 15th Birthday

My Godchild/Cousin Kylie turned 15 on March 8th, this was the age that my Aunt and Uncle asked me to be her Godmother. I was thrilled. Kylie is an beautiful and Amazing Godchild, I'm so lucky. This past Christmas she wrote me a poem, which was also a project for school. It was so amazing... I cried. Here it is:

To My Godmother

My cousin, Jill, was chosen for me,
To be my Godmother; a big duty.
She has always been there as I've grown through the years,
We shared happy times, and shed a few tears.
I was part of her wedding in 2004,
She stood next to me as my Confirmation Sponsor.
She gives me advice when I need guidance,
Jill's words are like my voice of conscience.
Our family has been through a lot of pain,
But her strength and our closeness have never waned.
She has taught me that family always comes first,
Our closeness is real and never rehearsed.
